This marvelous family of mine spent their spring break traveling across the country to visit Church History sites.  When I realized they’d be in Palmyra, NY for a few days, only a six hour drive from us, I couldn’t resist driving up to do a little touring with them.  It’s been way to long since we’ve seen them! Jeremy had to stay for school, and I’d be lying if I told you it was a piece of cake making the trip with the kids, but I’m really glad we went.

We visited the Sacred Grove twice while there, as you can see there was quite the difference in weather just a couple days apart. Regardless of how cold it was, the spirit was there both times. It really is a Sacred Grove.  There’s never been any doubt in my mind that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, that he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ in these woods, but I was grateful for the opportunity to have my testimony of these holy events strengthened again, and grateful to share it with such a great family.  Even though we sure missed Jeremy, Christian and Peter!

I spelled my own name wrong. It’s Shaina. I do love Luke’s tongue! And the sacred grove. I’ve been once, when I was like 13 and I thought the trail led to an actual grove, or opening where the actual event occurred. I ran excitedly down the trail and was quite baffled when it came out on the other side of the woods without any sign of that clearing in the painting of the first vision! Haha, I hope to go back one day to actually savor the place. :)ReplyCancel
